INFO ON THE CAUSE:
Police investigate a mysterious chainsaw “massacre” that may have destroyed 15 sycamore trees along St. Mary’s-by-the-Sea during the nasty storm Saturday night March 13th.

Fifteen stately sycamore trees lining the waterfront walkway in the scenic neighborhood park were vandalized — perhaps fatally — by “girding” cuts, sliced several inches into their circumference. The deep cuts, apparently inflicted with a chainsaw, prevent nutrients from traveling up a tree’s bark to the leaves.

We will also be accepting checks Made Payable to:

“City of Bridgeport” in the memo section, please note “Conservation Projects- St. Mary’s Trees”

Checks can be dropped off at the Acoustic Cafe, or mailed to BlackRock Rocks c/o Angel Telesco @ 205 Scofield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06605

**If you have questions about the focus of these funds, please know that we are focused on REPLACEMENT – It is our understanding that while some trees have been donated, they will not cover all of the trees that were destroyed, as the ones they hoped to save will not survive. This event is in no way associated with reward or other outlets. It’s primary focus is to contribute to the cost of the trees, perhaps upgrading them, the planting, and preliminary care.
